Ashford is a town in the county of Kent in southeastern England, on the River Great Stour.

There is evidence of habitation here going back to the Iron Age, with the oldest discovered barrow dating back to 1500 BC. The Romans began an iron and ore market in the area, and the town became known as a major market town in the 13th Century, a reputation it still has today. The town was officially started in 839 AD by villagers who had escaped from a Viking raid.

Today, Ashford is known for its markets, downtown shopping area, and history.
