Arish, also known as Al-Arish, is a city in the region of North Sinai in northeastern Egypt, the largest city on the Sinai Peninsula. It lies on the Mediterranean coastline.

It was founded around 100 BC. 

Today, it is known for its wadi, beaches, and flash floods.

Napoleon Bonaparte: After the Ottoman armies siezed a desert fort here, during my invasion of Egypt in 1799, I a division of my army to march here and meet them in battle. They did so, and I joined them with reinforcements a few days later, destroying the garrison. Some of the Ottoman soldiers joined my army instead.
