Arecibo is a city on the northern coastline of Puerto Rico. It was first settled by Spanish colonists in 1556, though the indigenous Taino people had hunted and wandered the area long before that. It is the third-oldest city in Puerto Rico.

Today, Arecibo is known for its wild beauty, with volcanoes, beaches, rainforests, lava rock formations, and caves. It is known as the location of the Arecibo Observatory, which houses a massive telescope.
