Amasra is a small coastal town on the Black Sea in northern Turkey, situated on two islands: Büyük Ada (Great Island) and Tavşan Adası (Rabbit Island).

Though it is not certain exactly when Amasra was founded, it is certainly an ancient city, founded sometime before the 8th Century BC, and was once called Sesamus by the Greeks.

Today, Amasra is known for its island beauty, its mix of Middle Eastern and European culture, its green blue waters, tourist trade, and beaches.
