Alliston is a town in the province of Ontario in southeastern Canada, located outside of Toronto

It was founded in 1847 as a large family farm, and later became known as an agricultural town, particularly for growing potatoes.

Today, Alliston is known for its rural charm, agriculture, and farmland.

Margaret Atwood: I moved here in 1973 to be with my partner, a fellow novelist who made his home on a farm here. I had a daughter, Eleanor, with him in 1976. We moved back to Toronto in 1980.
