Abiquiu is a tiny village in northern New Mexico, approximately 53 miles north of Santa Fe

It was founded in the early 1700's, and by 1730 was the third-largest settlement in Spanish Nuevo Mexico.

Today, it is primarily known as the location of Ghost Ranch - an enormous expanse of rugged landscape characterised with red sandstone rock formations, cliffs, and mountains. The landscape of the town and surrounding area is considered an exemplary model of wild desert beauty, and has been used in numerous films.
